Why is Dyslexia a Hot Topic for Educators?
Educators in Ohio are well aware of the mandates put upon teachers and districts concerning students with Dyslexia.
But have you ever wondered why?
Why do you have to take more classes?
Why do you need to learn one more thing on top of your overflowing plate?
Why isn't your current way of teaching good enough?
Well I am inviting you to a two hour workshop where I can answer those questions for you in a fun and engaging experience!
I provide an experience called the Dyslexia Simulation to educators and administrators where they can step into the shoes of those with Dyslexia and learn first hand why we are being mandated to change our thinking, our instruction, our approaches.
IF YOU WORRY THIS IS MORE TRAINING ON TOP OF WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN OR WILL GET, THINK AGAIN! THIS IS NOT THAT KIND OF TRAINING!
This experience is not more training, rather it's an application experience. Educators in Ohio are getting or will be getting lots of theoretical training about Dyslexia. This invitation is not for the theoretical side of things, but rather how to teach students with Dyslexia; the application side.
Here are what participating educators have said after they completed the pain-free simulation:
"This simulation was beneficial because I got more of an understanding of what students can go through being Dyslexic. I gained some insight on how students feel and ways I can better serve the students." Elizabeth, 1st grade teacher
"I was so interested in this topic and excited about the training. I feel that I grew so much as a teacher today. I can understand my students' struggles now and how I can help them. My heart was touched today." Samantha, Kindergarten teacher
"Amazing PD! Everyone should go through the Dyslexic Simulation!" Holly, Title 1 Teacher
"Powerful! Such a great experience...to spend an afternoon in our student's shoes!" Shannon, Principal
These are a few of the examples of feedback I receive after the simulation.
So, what can you expect during the 2 hour event:
